There’s something so special about creating a space that feels both elevated and inviting—a room that looks beautiful, but also feels like home. This family came to me ready to transform their living room into a space their two young daughters could grow up feeling proud of—one that reflected their style, values, and love for timeless design.
With little ones under three, durability was key, but so was warmth and personality. We focused on performance fabrics, classic silhouettes, and a rich yet approachable color palette that married tradition with modern livability.
The result? A home that feels effortlessly elegant, full of texture and light, and ready for family life—proof that practical can still be beautiful.
Before: College Furniture and Chaos
When I first walked into the space, it was filled with the furniture they’d had since college—pieces that had served their time (and seen better days 😅). The layout didn’t quite make sense for how the family used the room, and while the space had great bones, it lacked warmth, cohesion, and personality.
Our goal was to start fresh and design a living room that felt grown-up yet family-friendly, blending elevated comfort with everyday function.
After: Elevated Comfort Meets Everyday Living
We kept the layout similar to maintain flow but reimagined everything else. A sleek slate-blue sectional set the tone, grounded by a patterned rug in soft blues and creams. We layered in warm wood tones, neutral textiles, and a few subtle pops of terracotta to balance the cooler palette.
The space now feels light, cozy, and cohesive—a true reflection of the family’s style. It’s classic and elevated, yet completely livable for life with little ones (hello, performance fabrics and ottoman coffee table!).

In the end, this space became so much more than a living room—it became the heart of the home.
